We invest a lot of time and effort in our Apprenticeship Scheme. It is always pleasing to see how our apprentices grow in confidence and add real value to Pyramid.
Reece, our I.T Apprentice, has excelled and his hard work has been rewarded by being shortlisted to attend a prestigious event at The House of Lords. Reece is one of only 30 students selected by West Nottinghamshire College to attend this event. The aim of event is to celebrate the college’s work with employers and apprentices with senior politicians and other like-minded colleges and employers.
We all very proud of Reece’s achievement.

Saturday saw Jas compete in his fourth event, the Airfield Anarchy in Newark. This was 10K Mudrun, Jas’ second mudrun, and he was simply buzzing knowing he can play action man and get really dirty and muddy. The course was challenging in places, and thankfully the weather was kinder to him, than when he ran the The Avalanche Run – Chase the Yeti. Here’s a few action shots of Jas, he didn’t really make it cross the entire monkey bars……..more training required!

When it comes to offshore wind farms, you don’t get any bigger than London Array. London Array is the world’s largest offshore wind farm; generating enough electricity to power nearly half a million homes per year, saving a massive 925,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
When we were approached to print the London Array Inauguration promotion pack, we were simply blown away. Using our specialist knowledge gained from producing the Trinity House brochure (see previous blog post), our client only had Pyramid in mind to produce this high profile campaign.
The project consistent of a suite of printed material, including calendars, presentation boxes, belly wraps, a limited edition print and spectacular case bound brochure.
The case bound brochure simply called ‘The World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm’ (hindsight suggests it should have been called ‘The World’s Best Piece of Print’) demonstrates Pyramid’s ability to deliver a high profile campaign without any comprise on quality. Piecing the brochure together involved many innovative finishing’s and materials. From de-bossing, to foiling, to thread sewing to case bound, from fine linen to 100% recycled paper were all used. Limited to only 650 copies, these will be a memorable memento of the Inauguration ceremony which was attended by many senior cabinet ministers and dignitaries.
Selecting the correct paper for your print can, at times be a daunting decision to make. There are so many to choose from. Each paper has its own unique characteristics, some absorb ink, some have a smooth surface, some are bulkier then others and some have a tactile surface. Some are ‘whiter’ then others!
To help you select the correct paper and board Pyramid have created three exclusive swatches for
a) Coated Paper
b) Uncoated Paper
c) Speciality Paper
These include environmental friendly; FSC® accredited, and recycled sheets too.
To get your set, please email Jas (jas@pyramidpress.co.uk), with your full company details. Stocks are limited and are on a first come first served basis.

The JCB Mudrun 2012 was a huge success raising over £30,000 on the day. Pyramid’s Mud-Runners pictured here at the start of the 5 mile obstacle course. Jas, Dave, Gary and our late addition to the team Nick raring to go. The course was both mentally and physically challenging, none of us knowing what we had let ourselves in for. We were ‘mudrun virgins’. The twenty obstacles certainly were entertaining, we had to climb over, crawl under, slide down, squeeze through, monkey bar across water, wade through freezing water, each one offering a new challenge. Our favourite obstacle was the ‘quick sand’ if you stood still, you started to sink! We used muscles that we never thought we had! We finished the course in a respectable 1hr 09 mins 38 seconds. We have now set the marker and are looking forward to improve on this next year.
Pyramid Press are proud to announce that we are supporting The JCB Mudrun 12, to help raise funds for The NSPCC. Not only have printed the promotional material for the event, but also the label for the water bottle that will keep the runners hydrated along the 5 mile obstacle course through the wettest and stickiest mud. Our support for the event, does not stop there, we have donated 4 members of staff to set the pace for the run, Jas, Gary, Dave and Mick are extremely excited and looking forward to running, and raising awareness for The NSPCC.
As a company we are dedicated to the task of eradicating cruelty to children and we are delighted to have extended our charity work and supporting what promises to a fun family day out. We will have a few pictures to blog next, so please come back and take a look.
